Facts About Mexico

• If you eat a plate full of "chapulines colorados" (fried grasshoppers) your head will turn red and extremely itchy. Antihistaminic required. Sure enough, colorado means very red.
• If you swallow enough water from the cenotes (underground caves with fresh water), you will puke.
• In Mexico City's traffic lights, the little man that means "you can cross now" doesn't walk, but runs. Very appropriate.
• There is no concept of "bus stop". The bus will pick you up wherever you are, and will drop you off wherever you want. Even if it means stopping each 5 meters.
• Mérida - Celestún buses smell like fish.
• Celestún - Mérida buses transport fishermen with buckets full of fish. Which explains the previous point.
• Yucatán Península's birds are deafening, and crazy.
• Mexicans are so nice, that you don't mind they are trying to rip you off.
